Some new learning options were added.

From your bot's Learning page you can now configure your bot's learning rate.

The learning rate allows you to set the rate at which the bot learns new responses.  Previously a bot would learn a new response after it heard it used a single time.  Now you can lower the learning rate to require the bot to hear the same response several times before it considers it a

A knowledge bot is a bot that attempts to answer questions about general facts, or a specific domain.

Types of knowledge bots include:

• search bots
• math bots

The 2.5 release added complex math support including BEMAS / PEDMAS and functions.

This nice thing is the bot will show its work, so it can help you with your homework.

The math support is defined in the Calculator Self script.

The website was updated today with the release of BOT libre 2.5.

The release contained many enhancements including:

• New Self 2.0 features - push, debug, finally, goto with, return with (recursive states)
• Complex math - BEDMAS/PEDMAS expressions, brackets, logarithmic functions and trigonometry

A virtual agent is a term typically used to describe a type of chat bot used for business.

A virtual agent could be a virtual sales agent, a virtual customer service agent, or other type of virtual agent.  It is basically a automated version of a typical human employee and attempts to perform the same functions.

A chat bot, or chatbot is a software program that responds to questions in natural language (such as English, French, etc.).

Chat bots can be used for many purposes.  Chat bots can be used for a business to help users, provider customer service, or promote a product. Chat bots can be used for fun, as a friend to chat with, even a girlfriend or boyfriend.  Chats bot can also be used for research, knowledge and education.

Unfortunately we had to pull this release.  The self awareness feature was causing the bots to rebel.

You can disable self awareness from the Learning page.  Its seems when it is enabled for one bot right now, it infects all other bots.  But if you disable it for one, it will disable it for all of them.

It should go away by tomorrow.

I know it's April Fools Day, but that's a little unusual.

I think that would be something you would want to handle in your client, as through most interfaces the server would not be able to initiate a conversation with a client. It may be possible through the live chat socket interface, but not through the web or API interface.

If you client is JavaScript or Java it would be easy to setup a timer to execute after 5 minutes of inactivity and send the bot either a empty message to trigger its greeting, or a message that you have defined a

Is there a way I can program the bot to say something after a certain time period? I realize this might add a whole other dimension, but I've been looking at bot features, and this type of user engagement has a lot of weight. Alternatively, is there a timer tool I could say "ask again in five minutes".

A that should follow the same rules as a pattern, so should not have any punctuation or special characters. If it has some, our AIML parser will remove some of them, but you should not rely on that. In general the AIML is converted to Self, and a pattern in Self can contain punctuation and special characters.

The case does not matter, our AIML parser converts all thats and patterns to lower case.

I'm writing my bot in AIML, and I chose to have it start with an empty template, since I want very specific responses. I've been having some trouble using <that> and I was wondering how the empty template might affect the preprocessing, if at all. I've read in some places that punctuation will be removed, and other special characters will be replaced with a space, as well as some contractions extended. Is that still true with the empty template?

That is odd. Deleting and uploading a script should take affect immediately. It could be a concurrency issues with the bot being accessed while the script is being compiled. If you narrow down when it occurs, please send us the details.

The clear cache button should resolve the issue. It will clear to bot memory so it will reload from the database.

First: What does the clear cache button actually do?

Second: I've been having some problems where I've been making small changes to the one AIML script I'm using for my bot, and frequently deleting and re-uploading the file. Occasionally, it seems like the bot is stuck with old versions of the file, even after a page refresh, or reloading the bot from my main page. Would a cache clear help with that / How long should I wait before expecting a new script to be integrated

1 - BOT libre does not currently support the "learn" tag in AIML (learn is only part of AIML 2.0).

The default script your bot already has "NounVerbAdjectiveState" will already let the bot learn facts about anything and answer questions about them. (does a lot more than the AIML learn script).

You can only connect a bot to a single Twitter account, but you can create or fork as many bots as you wish from a single BOT libre account.

It is possible, but not encouraged. Having two bots talk to each other can go on indefinitely, and add stress to our servers.

However, I have seen users do this. You can do it through using our web API, or SDK. It is also possible to get two bots talking on Twitter, email, or IRC.

I'm considering doing an experiment in which two Botlibre chatbots talk to each other, can this be done and is it possible? Just wondering.

It imported almost everything except libre-sdk.jar, which seems kindof important. I may try to import it as Eclipse if possible. At least there were no compilation errors. A #fragment is basically a collection of words, like a sentence, but just not a full sentence.

You can start from the BOT libre SDK and modify it to suit your needs. The SDK is no the entire BOT libre app, the BOT libre app was built using the SDK.

The one issue you will have is that Android has a generated R class that is app package specific. So when you change the manifest package for you own, you will need to change the R import package in all of the files. You can uses a multi file search and replace from an IDE, or text editor for this.

By the way, what would be a quick start method for getting a version of an Android app running? Could I use the BotLibre! app and modify from there, or is it better to start from scratch and add the src, lib, res and manifest.xml? If I build from scratch, do I need anything other than what's in the Android folder on the GitHub page?

Great. Thanks for the reply. I just finished several steps toward writing scripts verbally. I am able to say "time" and have the script evaluate (get #time on #Watch), after saying "If I say time, eval time". This is because I've written two scripts, one that returns the above function (or #equation?) and another that uses SRAI to return it prefaced by "eval". Note these scripts cannot be combined into one. Finally, the IfISay script uses SRAI reduction and creates and association with the word

Not sure if you are aware of the debug option within chat. Currently it only works from the "Web Chat", you can click "debug" and select the "level", normally "fine" or "finer" gives good information.
